Overview of the Position 

We are hiring a Junior Rebuild Technician who is motivated, dependable, and interested in developing skills within the construction and restoration industry. This is a hands-on, entry-to-mid level position where you will assist experienced team members with repair and reconstruction work in homes and businesses affected by water, mold, or fire damage. You will report to the Operations Manager and support the Rebuild Department in delivering quality workmanship and outstanding customer service. An interest in learning and cross-training in water restoration and mold remediation is required, as this position will eventually support multiple areas of the business. 

Position Summary/Purpose 

Assist in the repair and rebuild of residential and commercial properties following damage events. Learn and grow on the job while supporting experienced technicians and contributing to high-quality project outcomes. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Execute reconstruction projects according to the scope of work as defined by Lightspeed Restoration and the customer. 
  • Perform demolition work while ensuring structural integrity is maintained. 
  • Install or repair framing, drywall, doors, windows, flooring, and cabinetry. 
  • Apply finishes such as painting, trim installation, and tile work. 
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized worksite. 
  • Collaborate with team members, contractors, and supervisors to ensure timely project completion. 
  • Troubleshoot on-site problems and suggest practical solutions. 
  • Operate and maintain hand and power tools safely. 
Additional Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Help protect customer property using plastic, drop cloths, and other materials to avoid damaging carpet, hardwood or furniture. 
  • Keep company tools clean and organized 
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and assist with supply restocking 
  • Occasionally assist the mitigation team with demolition or site prep tasks 

Bonus Points: 

  • 6+ months of construction, remodeling, or general labor experience 
  • Interest in restoration and property repair work 
  • Familiarity with hand tools and basic job site safety 
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English 
  • Experience working in customers’ homes or service roles 
  • Familiarity with Contra Costa County 
  • Long-term interest in moving up to Lead Tech or Supervisor roles

Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

Education and Experience 
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred 
- Some experience in trades, construction, or manual labor is a plus 
 
Tools and Technical Skills 
- Willing to use hand tools, power tools, and materials safely 
- Able to follow basic instructions and ask questions when unsure 
 
Licenses and Certificates 
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record 
- Must pass background and drug screening 

Physical Demands 

This position includes regular lifting, kneeling, bending, climbing ladders, and working in tight or elevated spaces. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally. 

Working Conditions 

Most work is performed on job sites in homes or commercial buildings throughout Contra Costa County. Sites may be in various stages of restoration, including those with water or fire damage, limited heating/cooling, or visible mold. Occasional work outside of the county may be required.
